I heard Dr. Michelle on the radio one Sunday afternoon and I thought who is this? A different way to look at stuff? I sure needed a different way to look at stuff. So the next Sunday I went to the 9 am service. The moment I set foot into the sanctuary I felt like I found my home. The very next week I jumped into this community with both feet, I volunteer in the book store, I took foundational class, (today I am completing the Self Mastery class), I am there almost every Sunday (I think I only missed 6 during this past year) and it has changed my life. I found wonderful friends, support during a very difficult time in my life, a new career, love, and an aliveness that I have not felt for many years. New Vision Center is my spiritual home and a great part of my everyday living. |

I certainly never thought of myself as a “church” guy, after some less than enjoyable experiences with organized religion as a child, but I was definitely always searching for a place to share with like-minded individuals. I had been learning and following the Science of Mind principles with my wife for years but when I walked into New Vision Center I was home. In fact, I suggested to my wife that we change some long-standing plans so that we could come back to the Center for an evening event a few days later. Essentially, this place immediately became my spiritual home and has introduced me to numerous people who will be lifelong friends. Coming to NVC was a blessing in my life in many ways. I’ve learned about a loving and forgiving God. The most important discovery for me was that I don’t have to die to experience the presence and love of God. I learned to love and accept of myself just as I am. As I learned to be more compassionate toward myself, I also became more loving and non-judgemental of others. I've learned to connect to others easily and I learned to see God in every living being. But the greatest gifts of all was awareness and freedom. Freedom from guilt, from self-criticism; freedom from religion and society’s illusionary standards. New Vision Spiritual Growth Center has expanded my heart by offering loving messages, exposure to exciting workshops, books, music, retreats, and loving, caring individuals. During my first visit in August of 1997 I could sense something very different and comforting despite not knowing anyone. What I know is that NVC truly welcomes and accepts everyone. A friend and I were shopping churches of all denominations and among the ten or so that we visited and studied, New Vision was the place that resonated most with us. What appeals to me is the lack of dogma and “thou shalt nots” -- I find it to be more of a spiritual philosophy for everyday living. I've taken several of the classes offered at NVC and find they make me look at life in very different ways. I came from a Mormon upbringing and came out that I was gay at age 34. Knowing that the church I was raised in didn’t accept my lifestyle, I was searching for a community that was all inclusive and accepting to everyone. In 2001 I found that all inclusive teaching and church at New Vision Center. I am a lot happier person and feel so blessed to have worked with Dr. Michelle and the staff at New Vision Center for five wonderful, enriching, and life altering years. | Coming from a Catholic upbringing, I was hesitant to participate in organized religion. However, the first time I heard Michelle speak, I knew New Vision would be my spiritual home. She spoke of love, universal truth, acceptance, and abundance. All of which I had had been seeking for many years. I left the first day feeling empowered, reenergized and ready to apply what I had learned to my life. I also met my husband that day! Since then we have thrived as a young couple in the church. The classes, seminars, activities, and support we receive from everyone have added so much to our life. I had been searching for a long time for religion or belief that spoke to who I was. When I entered New Vision for the first time the greeter made me feel welcome and the music told me I was home. After hearing Rev. Michelle speak just one time I knew it was the place and religion for me. I was “baptized” for the first and only time into science of mind. Even though I do not attend service very often, I know I am in the community’s heart forever. |
